Nothing wrong per se, it is just that the inflation was done assuming a certain number of vertices. You can try changing the number of iterations in the inflation with,eg,
cd $SUBJECTS/fsaverage/surf
mris_inflate -dist .01 -f .001 -no-save-sulc 5 lh.smoothwm lh.inflated
In this case I set it to 5, but you can play with it.

If you don't need the inflated for this, then you can just ignore
