Hi Wei

The DKT and aparc are estimates from folding patterns, based on different neuroanatomist’s conventions. The exvivo ones are based on direct observation of highres ex vivo images where we can see the borders and likely to be more accurate in my opinion. The first one is all vertices that might possibly be in EC, the second is thresholded so that the EC label has the same area as the average of the ex vivo labels.

Cheers

Bruce

Subject: [Freesurfer] same ROI with different stats

        External Email - Use Caution

Hi, Freesurfer exports

I'm wondering what is the difference in the stat folder  when it comes to the same ROI.

For example, I have found the entorhinal from 4 different stats files and the values are slightly different.

lh.aparc.DKTatlas.stats

entorhinal    665    393   1528  3.174 0.788     0.085     0.021        5     0.5

lh.aparc.pial.stats
entorhinal    848    799   1906  3.159 0.787     0.199     0.068       16     3.1
lh.BA_exvivo.stats
entorhinal_exvivo    570    346   1394  3.000 1.015     0.083     0.023        5     0.4
lh.BA_exvivo.thresh.stats
entorhinal_exvivo    344    205    918  3.450 0.520     0.057     0.010        1     0.1

I‘m really appreciate it if you can provide me some instructions about these 4

Best,

Wei
