I think it depends on your ultimate goal and how much version differences might affect your experiments. There is some literature suggesting that mixing FreeSurfer versions can improve generalisation for ML models (see: https://doi.org/10.1016/j.ynirp.2024.100214).
That said, I’m not an expert in this area, so please take this as a pointer rather than firm advice.

Hi group,
I was curious if using both versions of freesurfer 7.2 & 74 would be acceptable? We realized some of our data contained both due to some miscommunication.
Would the recommendation be to use just one 7.X version, or are the two similar enough to use concurrently?
