I'm running errors when I try to run the dicom files with recon-all. It shows:

ERROR: cannot determine file type

I have tried opening the files in mipav, and that worked which leads me to believe the files are not flawed.

Attached you will fine one of the dicom files. Please try to play with it, and let me know how to fix the problem.
