The instructions include how to install and run the current Freesurfer release (7.4.1 from June 2023).

Please keep in mind that while the VirtualBox virtualization application runs on hosts with Intel processors, it does not run on arm64 machines (including silicon Macs with M1, M2, M3 chips).
