MRIwriteControlPoints(/home/glerma/freesurfer/subjects/TNT/TNT_solosubs/S_11/tmp/control.dat): could not open file

No such file or directory

I created the /tmp/ folder by hand and then it created the control.dat file properly (going to tkmedit > File > Save Control Points).

These are the permission on the S_11 folder:

drwxrwxr-x 17 glerma domain users  4096 Jun  7 09:41 S_11

(this is a CentOS 5 machine)
