The average of the area of the triangles that form the vertex

Hi FS experts:

    I am studying the vertex-level group analysis on surface area between groups. I know that the cortical thickness of a vertex is computed as the distance between white matter surface and pial surface. But I have no idea how to calculate the surface area of a vertex. In my understanding, surface area is a measurement of a face instead of a vertex.
