Hi Rex,

http://www.specialtyphotonics.com/pdf/products/088_089.pdf , OFS 
offer fibers for NIR range  with bend radius from 9mm to 29mm core 
125 to 400 micron;

Some questions ( or suggestions )  :
1. smaller core = smaller bend radius = more difficult coupling to 
laser = more leaks;
2. I think that bending the fiber to 90 degrees make sense only you 
need to make measurements on occipital region  ( OK, this isn't a my problem )
3. There are two ways : a) bend the fibers without leaks : you must 
think a connector ( modify existent connectors ? making a custom 
connector ? ) to interfacing the scalp skin;

b) use a 90 deg. prism ( more expensive - more difficult assembly -
