The LAPACK libraries on the MNE web site are for 64-bit LINUX only.  
You need to install the lapack version 3 library package to your  
ubuntu system. BTW, if you say

ls /usr/lib/*lapack*

do you see any libraries there (older or newer versions than 3)?
