Dear list,

I'm actually wondering whether it makes a significant difference for
my inverse solutions,
whether I include the reference channels from 4D (or CTF) or not.
At our site, in general we don't use them at all for other purposes
than online-compensation,
which also is because apparently the reference can't be reliably
calibrated (at least not the gradiometers.
And effectively at our site I can't include the references without
extreme efforts).
The MNE manual would recommend including them, as the forward model
takes the references into account, but also is not too specific in
this regard.
One is rather only warned not to mix compensated with uncompensated data.
Is there any educated guess on this, or does anyone even have
experience with this?

Thanks,
Denis
