[Mne_analysis] mayavi visualization not working on Martinos VNC remote desktop and on Mac OS 10.11.6

Hi,

I'm trying to use mayavi for visualization of source estimates on Mac OS
10.11.6. I have mayavi 4.7.1 and pyqt5 installed.  I've set the environment
variable QT_API=pyqt5.  "from mayavi import mlab" runs without error, but
if I try to use mlab functions I get "Import Error: Could not import
backend for traitsui. Make sure you have a suitable UI toolkit like
PyQt/Pyside or wxPython installed".

These settings work on the Martinos linux machine I use at the Martinos
center, but the visualization doesn't work on the VNC remote desktop
(Windows) and right now I can't go into the office due to the remote work
policy.

Any idea how to set this up on a mac, or how to make the visualization work
on a Martinos computer remotely?
