Frankfurt edition. This is an event in the CuttingEEG series (https://secure-web.cisco.com/14BxTWQxYj7nok7kAWz8ndVF5g5sQMvIXZe3pFZRq9Sf8rPm85CyEkeRb3utYqoCkokj62J5opyzkDXxotnRq658cmszmEQQg_KazuDtL5GeEG_4hUYXuDglJ6mrMeCTe0AKRnUKi1Y559ARE4Fd_sb9VrzJ8amtXbWec9ESfUVjfSXqX_pVPS96miTjQ08aHmq3cQx4U9DbezCUVMNqcB3jtFMVasn0mwolFk6UHRqzS_DWuQ2cEyHAZwgP4voJvZXFYla8QLkLbRQx3NKTzVsFBJXM1thr9RtFA1hqRejRRl48OL-Cj2ycxryweu-Di2hxsmigEAg7tbQ4Xe0CSgg/https%3A%2F%2Fcuttingeeg.org%2F), which hosts events especially interesting for people doing human neuroscience using MEG/EEG/iEEG. This time it is a global distributed multi-hub conference (https://secure-web.cisco.com/1IAsL8Oa_WfETNio2t7wEhoEt5D30Lsbs3Y8MI7PUrkjagVIa9boSvHR45SkVJKG-tHBulyAaT5-7vQSFYp-u2lJWVOytEsfj_ncrMyHzacfwll31-fGq5LSIcMtZn1Z3ojyQIHn2o81kCsRfB9ALIVnAwvHarde6w2rEYRMiiLHSnrdQUpJ5rSce0AleXrRDRoP6By5nbjqFPxuTD2PhbMTEpyoLnqbkpbRB3ax9-TR_0xPej-3YopqDiSurF-IhCBsHjJfPn_MxB4NFGGJrIv5MlgB_Z-DCsDAZriGMD8pKsx--WOojeGbtjN5mTUXQAnyGuL-VNdp6fBJyQb1Q1A/https%3A%2F%2Fcuttinggardens2023.org), happening in several cities across the world. So some of the program will be hybrid and broadcasted to all locations while various local hubs additionally organize complementary, in-person program points. The "CuttingGardens 2023 ? Frankfurt edition" will take place at the Ernst-Str?ngmann Institute in Frankfurt, October 16-19th. The official registration is now open (first-come, first-served), and we are happy to invite everyone who enjoys exchange about cutting edge methods in these fields. For our local, in-person program, we invited a bunch of great speakers and will have a mixture of exciting talks and workshops. The lab studies neuronal dynamics underlying cognitive processes such as selective attention and active sensing, interoception, memory, and auditory stream and speech processing using iEEG recordings surgical epilepsy patients. Besides iEEG recordings we also use invasive and non-invasive electrical stimulation, eye tracking, single unit recordings, recording of other physiological signals (i.e., EKG, breathing), and functional and anatomical imaging. This postdoc position is part of a large, recently funded NIH multi-center project to investigate the functional role of slow fluctuating cortical activity. These slow fluctuations are a ubiquitous and fascinating feature of brain activity and are thought to play a crucial role in many cognitive functions from attention, interoception, state switching, etc. The position is funded for 4-5 years (less is ok), with expected start date as soon as possible. This is an extremely collaborative project among a large amount (>25 PIs) of international leaders in the field using scalp EEG, fMRI, iEEG, and single unit recordings in humans and animal models, electrical stimulation, and computational modeling. The candidate will have ample opportunities to work closely with these collaborators. Qualifications: * PhD in neuroscience, biomedical engineering, psychology, or related field * Programming (Matlab or Python) experience * Solid background in signal processing (EEG/MEG or iEEG) * Solid background in statistics * Solid background in scientific writing * Supervision/mentoring of research assistants and students is encouraged Application: Interested candidate should send CV, names and contact info of 2-3 references, and any questions to Stephan Bickel, MD PhD (sbickel at northwell.edu) The information contained in this electronic e-mail transmission and any attachments are intended only for the use of the individual or entity to whom or to which it is addressed, and may contain information that is privileged, confidential and exempt from disclosure under applicable law.
