RESEARCH ASSISTANT AT REHABILITATION INSTITUTE OF CHICAGO (RIC)

Note: Meet & Greet / Interviews at the ongoing SFN 2015 meeting in Chicago are available. Our research focuses on non-invasive human brain modulation using transcranial magnetic stimulation (TMS), combined with imaging methods such as EEG/MEG, fMRI, MRI, diffusion MRI tractography, and behavioral recordings. The position includes data recordings and analysis, technological development, and some administrative/office duties. We study healthy subjects as well as neurological and psychiatric patient populations. You will be working as an integral member of an experienced team. The position will give strong hands-on experience in multimodal structural and functional neuroimaging
and -stimulation. Requirements: BA, BS, or MS degree in Biomedical Engineering, Cognitive Sciences, Neuroscience, or closely related fields. Courses in neuroscience, signal analysis, mathematics, statistics, computational modeling, physics, and/or experimental psychology are useful. Fluent matlab and linux (CentOS, csh) skills are required; programming in Python and C++ is a plus. Prior experience with EEG is required; courses and hands-on skills in TMS+EEG, MEG/EEG, fMRI, and MRI tractography are an advantage. Experience with neuroimaging software packages (e.g., FreeSurfer, FSL, SPM, MNE analysis stream, FieldTrip, Brainstorm) is useful. Must be responsible, self-motivated, resourceful, organized, a team player, and have strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills. The position is full-time, starting October 2015 at earliest. This would be an ideal opportunity for someone bound for graduate school in fields related to neuroscience, or for a candidate seeking a laboratory engineer position.
