You can manually mark the fiducial locations in `mne coreg` by clicking
"edit" in the left panel, then one of the LPA/Nasion/RPA boxes.

The automated approach should be pretty good assuming your talairach
Freesurfer transformations are correct for the subject. If they are not, it
might be worth doing them manually (see
https://surfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/fswiki/FsTutorial/Talairach_freeview),
then proceeding to re-do the recon-all steps that follow the Talairach
registration process (somewhere in the middle of autorecon1 here:
https://surfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/fswiki/ReconAllDevTable). If you choose
to go this route and hit trouble, it's worth pinging the Freesurfer
listservs.
