Hi everybody,
I noticed the new FreeSurfer tutorial on the website and all 3D volumes are specified
as *.mgz files there. What happened to old COR format? Is mgz the format of the new
FreeSurfer distribution that is supposed to come out soon?
Best,
Renat.
Hi Renat,
yes it is. COR is just to limitted a format, and we've been using .mgz internally for a while. We may start using Nifti as well. The latest snapshot on the web should support .mgz.

Could you point to where mgz format is documented somewhere? Thanks,
Graham

It is the same thing as mgh, just compressed. Do you have the docs for mgh format? If not, you can check out the mgh_read.m in freesurfer/matlab
