what would the gray matter fraction of the hippocampus mean? Would that require that one label things like fimbria and alveus? While we are working on this, there are no existing labelings of these extremely thin structures that I am aware of.

The FreeSurfer aseg output provides only total volume for the various subcortical structures, so we asssume it's not possible to obtain grey or white matter fractions?
