What are white matter hypointensities supposed to represent? I'm seeing this segmentation group a lot around the lateral ventricles, caudate, etc.
thanks, Chris
Hi Chris,
they hypointense WM on the T1 (typically also hyperintense on a T2). Unfortunately they are hard to distinguish from partial voluming on the walls of the ventricle and from the more superior regions of the caudate, unless you hae multispectral data (ideally a FLAIR).
cheers, Bruce
