Hello CM, We are looking at how Freesurfer can work with the new security and file system changes added in Catalina (Mac OS 10.15). I am not aware of an issue if Freesurfer had been installed on a machine running an older version of Mac OS, e.g., Mojave (Mac OS 10.14), that was subsequently upgraded to run Mac OS 10.15. But we still need to testing - including new Apple hardware that comes with Catalina installed out of the box. Like other software vendors, at this time we do not recommend upgrading to Catalina if you want to continue to run existing (Freesurfer) software releases on Mac OS. - R.

Hello, sudo spctl - -master -disable
Running this command before installing freesurfer will solve your problem .. There is no space between the two hyphens
