Hi all,
I would like to know which model has been implemented for the surface-based spatial smoothing in Freesurfer (for example in mri_vol2surf). Heat kernel smoothing and/or diffusion smoothing?
Thank you Best
Francesca
Hi Francesca
what's the difference? They are both approximations of Gaussians on the surface. We use iterative averaging which is a numerical approximation of a surface-based Gaussian.
cheers Bruce

Thank you! Is there a paper I can read as a reference?
