Dear all,
Am I correct in thinking that the measures of cortical volume, area, and thickness, as well as subcortical volumes obtained after running the reconall pipeline (and found in the 'aparc' and 'aseg' files, respectively) are native ones? Or are they based on normalised brains, thus 'controlling' for overall brain volume differences?
thanks, Narly.
Hi Narly,
they are all native values.

Hi there,
I see on the freesurfer installation for mac page that it says: 'Look here for the 'tiger' download, saving freesurfer-Darwin-tiger-<release>-full.dmg to your local machine.'
Should I take the tiger download even if I have the 10.5 intel version of mac (and not 10.4)? and regardless, should I also install the X11 utility, and the updates to this utility (ones to avoid GLX errors)?
thanks! best, Narly.

Hi Narly
You should install the Leopard version if you have 10.5. Here's the download page
http://surfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/fswiki/Download
We need to update the Installation wiki page because we also support Leopard now.

Hi Narly:
You will probably need this also. I did the same move recently and had a lot of headaches with this problem until Pedro Pablo Magalhaes told me the following:
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I had the same problem with 4.0.4
The solution is:
Install G77 (Fortran). Link: http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/hpc/g77-intel-bin.tar.gz?download

Which distribution did you install? You can find out by typing:
cat $FREESURFER_HOME/build-stamp.txt
You should have the leopard intel mac distribution, so it should say:
freesurfer-Darwin-leopard-i686-stable-v4.0.4
Also make sure you have all the latest Apple Software Updates.

Actually is Pedro Paulo, but no problem.
I'm not sure if Fortran Libraries were static linked in 4.0.5
So just in case try installing this.

With v4.0.5, the g77 installation is no longer necessary. Freesurfer is built against a static libg2c lib.
