We would like to calculate the mean and std. deviation over a region of interest using tkmedit. The underlying image volume (on which the ROI is delignated) is a scalar map. Kevin mentioned that there might be a tool in the Freesurfer suite that will do that calculation.
I would really appreciate your input.

Hi George,
there's a binary named mri_label_vals that will spit out all the values in a label. You can then compute whatever statistics you want.
cheers, Bruce

Hi Bruce,
Thank you for your message. I could not locate mri_label_vals:
[hereford:maps] (nmr-std-env) mri_label_vals mri_label_vals: Command not found. [hereford:maps] (nmr-dev-env) mri_label_vals mri_label_vals: Command not found.
in either the std or the dev nmr environment. Do you happen to have the path to it?
Also, do you have something that converts a label file (e.g. containing one label) to a binary mask?
I really appreciate this.
