hi all. I installed freesurfer in an ubuntu linux. But when I perform the test code "tkmedit bert orig.mgz", the system was logged off. Could somebody help me? Thanks you in advance.

It sounds like running tkmedit caused an X-Windows crash. This likely means that it will be necessary to upgrade your graphics driver. This sort of problem has happened in the past with NVidia graphics cards.
