[Freesurfer] total wm volume calculation

Dear FreeSurfer Expert,

i am trying to generate the total wm volume using mris_wm_volume <subjid> <hemi> ,but this value is different from what i get using mirs_volume ?h.white, could you explain the differences between these two commands. and which is the best representation of the surface based total wm volume ?
