Hi Rosie
The defects usually come from segmentation errors so I would fix those first Cheers Bruce

External Email - Use Caution Hi Bruce,
Sorry, I refer to topological defects and white mater segmentation errors. What should I correct first?
Kind regards, Rosie

I’m not sure what you mean by “control point errors”. The things control points are intended to correct, like B1- shading, can cause topological defects, so adding control points can fix the topology as well
Cheers Bruce

External Email - Use Caution Dear Freesurfer experts,
I have noticed I have both topological and control point erros in my image.
What would you recommend me to do first, topological or the control points?
Kind regards, Rosie
