I am facing a similar problem as described by Knut Bjuland:

I could not find a public reply in the mailing list archives. Therefore I would like to know whether it would be safe to either downgrade mri_convert to the version before the tracula update or use a newer development version of mri_convert with Freesurfer 5.3.
