Thank you for reporting this. This was indeed a bug in the Mac version and will be fixed in the upcoming release. In the meantime, I provided a link to a fixed version of the problematic script. Please overwriting your existing version of FREESURFER_HOME/bin/xcerebralseg with the one provided in the link below:
ftp://surfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/transfer/outgoing/fsdev/zkaufman/xcerebralseg
