Davide,
The Debian platform is one that we do not actively support, but do have available to us to conduct build and test. That said, I've put the tk*tools (tkmedit, tkregister2 and tksurfer) built on Debian3.1 x86_64 on the ftp site. Goto:
ftp://surfer.nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/pub/dist
and look for:
tktools_debian3_x86_64.tar.gz
Put that file in your $FREESURFER_HOME/bin, and type:
tar zxvf tktools_debian3_x86_64.tar.gz
and it will extract (and overwrite) those three tools with those built against libtiff4 on Debian.
All the other binaries (built for centos4_x86_64) should run without problem (but of course let me know if any of them don't).

Hi,
I have an amd64 machine with a Debian GNU/Linux (v. testing) system. I'd like to use freeSurfer but I got some problem. I installed freesurfer-Linux-centos4_x86_64-stable-pub-v3.0.3- full.tar.gz When I run tkmedit (or tksurf) I get the following message:
tkmedit: error while loading shared libraries: libtiff.so.3: cannot open shared obj ect file: No such file or directory
On my system I have libtiff4.
Any suggestion?
Thanks,
