The talairach alignment atlas consists of adult brains, so maybe that is the problem. You can try adding this flag to the end of your recon-all:
-use-mritotal
which will use the MINC tools to the do the registration instead of talairach_avi. The MINC tool also uses adult brains as the template, but its worth a try.
