By default, just the interior, though it is possible to get measures from the exterior doug

Hi Doug, Sorry for forgetting to post to the list. The figure attached to this email could illustrate my questions. The blue region in the figure is a cortical parcellation (i.e. precentral) obtained by FreeSurfer. As I understand, the cortical parcellation has its own thickness (maybe 2~3mm) in actually, therefore, this cortical parcellation has interior surface (red line in the figure) and exterior surface (green line in the figure). The interior surface separates the white matter and the cortical parcellation, while the exterior surface separates the cortical parcellation and the skull. What I want to know is whether both the exterior surface and the interior surface are computed when FreeSurfer calculates the surface area. Thanks!

Thanks! I don't understand your question. What do you mean by the exterior, anterior, posterior, etc, surfaces? On 3/5/14 11:56 PM, ??? wrote:Hi Doug, Thank you for your prompting response. Do you mean the computation only calculate exterior surface of the cortical region ? The other five surface (i.e. anterior, posterior, left, right, interior) are excluded ? Thanks!
