Hi all
I'm a new freesurfer user and I have some troubles installing the program.
after moving to
cd /usr/local
I typed *freesurfer-virtual:~>* tar xzvf freesurfer-Linux-<platform>-<release>-full.tar.gz
replacing <platform>-<release> with
freesurfer-Linux-centos4-stable-pub-v4.3.1
I get the following error message
Cannot
- open: No such file or directory
*>>* *>>* tar: Error is not recoverable: exiting now *>>* *>>* tar: Child returned status 2 *>>* *>>* tar: Error exit delayed from previous errors *
I don´t know exactly what I'm doing wrong, this may happen because I'm not in the right directory or something? How can I get informnation about my Linux and Freesurfer software version.* *
Any help will be greatly appreciated, thanks in advance
Hi Ignacio,
Is that file, ie, freesurfer-Linux-centos4-stable-pub-v4.3.1.tar.gz, in that directory? What is the size of freesurfer-Linux-centos4-stable-pub-v4.3.1.tar.gz? Do you have write permissions to that folder?

Hi Doug
At least i've made sure that freesurfer location is in * /usr/local/freesurfer*
The Freesurfer properties tab says that it weights 3.1 GB Now, the Permissions tab says:
*Owner*: freesurfer (freesurfer) *Access*: Read&Write *Group*: freesurfer *Acces*: Read only *Others* :Read only
Thanks Doug

So do you have write access? Also, remember to send the entire email thread in the letter. I delete emails aggressively so I won't always know what you are talking about. Also, please respond to the list. Others may be interested, and it gets saved in the archive.
