Hi,
Here is the output of lh.euler.orig for a particular subject:
euler # = v-e+f = 2g-2: 149150 - 447444 + 298297 = 3 --> 0 holes F =2V-4: 298297 != 298300-4 (-1) 2E=3F: 894888 != 894891 (-3)
total defect index = 4
Is there a way of determining which parts of the surface and therefore which parts of the volume are giving rising to the defects? It's likely I can write some surface analysis code to do this, but I'm hoping freesurfer already has something of this sort available.
Thanks,
Satra
Hi Satra,
yes, this is a bug that I know about that effects the occasional surface. I wouldn't worry about it, as the problem is no doubt tiny and only one place in the surface. I think we have a fix for it, but we haven't tested it thoroughly yet. There's no easy way to localize it, except the way we do with the topology fixing, or with some graph theoretic methods.

Has anyone done any performance benchmarks on recon-all recently? I've been running it on one of our newer machines (dual Xeon 3.06 GHz, 2GB ram, 6121 bogomips) and it still takes about 90 minutes to do finalsurfs on one hemisphere. Which is the same time the help file quotes for a 1 GHz Pentium III.
Is this similar to what others are seeing? Anyone have any secrets for speeding things up? Esp. for final surface creation?
Thanks,
Hi Adam,
we really have spent next to no time optimizing, but I'm suprised the dual xeon isn't significantly faster than your pIII.
