I'm just starting to learn FreeSurfer, and am trying to go through bert's data step by step. When I click "Read Header" in the Setup Structural Scan Parameters, after selecting "COR-.info", it returns "-unset-" in the file type field. When I try this with another data set (mine) it does the same thing. Are the formats the problem? Is this something that I've done wrong? Thankyou for ANY help you can give me...

Hi Daniel,
sorry, the tutorial is out of date, and we're hoping to update it. The easiest way to do a recon is the recon-all script that Doug Greve wrote. Run it without any command line arguments to see the syntax. You can then view the results using view volume and view surface from csurf, or invoke tkmedit (volume) and tksurfer (surface) from the command line directly.
cheers, Bruce
