Postdoctoral Position in Cognitive Neuroscience of Aging
Areas: Visual Memory, Cognitive Aging, and Alzheimer's disease
Department: Cognitive, Linguistic, and Psychological Sciences
Brown University
We are seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher to lead an
NIH-funded project in the Laboratory for Cognitive and Translational
Neuroscience directed by Dr. Hwamee Oh at Brown University. The project is
to use fMRI, DTI, and PET to study visual memory networks in healthy young
adults and how they change in cognitively normal older adults, and older
adults who are cognitively normal but present with Alzheimer's pathologies
in the brain.
Applicants with a Ph.D. degree in cognitive neuroscience, computational
neuroscience, biomedical engineering, or a relevant field are encouraged to
apply. Prior experience with human neuroimaging, a strong background in
cognitive neuroscience and experimental design, and/or familiarity with
programming in relevant languages (e.g., Python, MATLAB) are required. We
are particularly interested in applicants with experience with task-based
fMRI network and multivariate analyses. The successful candidate is
expected to demonstrate communication skills, motivation and interest in
the area of cognitive and brain aging, Alzheimer's disease, and
neuroimaging, as well as the ability to independently develop research
questions and work in collaboration with other team members.
The expected start date is fall 2022 or negotiable.
Interested applicants should email a brief description of research
background and career goals, and CV with a list of 3 references to Dr.
Hwamee Oh at hwamee_oh(a)brown.edu.

Hello everyone, this is probably a silly question, but how can I export images from freeview? I don’t see an export option!

Hello,
I am trying to project my SPM nii image onto an anatomical image to project them onto a cortical surface in Freesurfer, to generate images which look like this: Fig. 4: Refining neuroanatomical treatment targets for addiction. | Nature Medicine<https://secure-web.cisco.com/1mejk3edpL22Nxd2a1vnicVV8HsoH4qBsXKIzfqDBspXAg…>
Has anyone done this before and would be able to point me towards any resources to do so?
Thank you,
Rachel Wagner

Hi!
Following the instructions on your wiki page, I would like to request the pass
code to expand the archive of the file: FS_7_2_0_Ubuntu_18_04_06.ova.7z
(Freesurfer 7.2.0 release in Ubuntu 18.04.06).
Thank you for your help!

Dear FreeSurfer team,
1. We are attempting to compute the average cortical thickness for controls and persons with a neurological condition. In some cases, we’ve noticed that the pre- and post-central gyri have shifted in the anteroposterior direction so that the left and right gyri are not aligned. A similar phenomenon has been reported previously (https://www.mail-archive.com/freesurfer@nmr.mgh.harvard.edu/msg70316.html) and solved. However, we get the following error when attempting the previously proposed solution:
ERROR: Flag -nospherereg unrecognized
Are there any other solutions or suggestions for addressing this shift that may work for us?
1. Also, if we are interested in analyzing the cortical thickness of the entire hemispheres using the mri_glmfit-function and not comparing specific ROIs directly, does the correct parcellation/labelling of specific ROIs matter?
Kind regards,
Carl

The NIH-funded MGH Metabolic Imaging Core is seeking to fill a position of full-time Research Technician I role in the field of metabolic imaging. As part of the research group, the incumbent will work in a highly dynamic clinical research environment in metabolism, focused on body composition, obesity, osteoporosis, and lipodystrophy. This is a position in which the incumbent will provide oversight in research imaging used in metabolic imaging and body composition, provide expertise in data analysis and develop tools for imaging acquisition and analysis. The candidate will report directly to the Core Director and/or Lab Manager and have support of imaging technologists. These activities will provide an opportunity for developing mentored research or collaborations, as well as hands-on experience in a clinical environment. Ideal candidates have experience or interest in medical imaging, machine learning, metabolism, human research, biology and/or engineering background.

Hi developers,
I have some colleagues who have been assigned to quality check brain scans remotely on their laptops (macs), and they have space constraints. Is there a stand alone freeview-only installation that doesn't require the ~10gb needed for the entire freesurfer suite?
Sorry if this question has already been asked.
